I’ve Always Wanted to Be a Photographer

Sparked by my mom’s love for capturing moments that matter, it became a natural extension of who I am. Although I didn’t pursue it in college, life led me to Oahu after grad school, where my journey as a military spouse took an unexpected turn. Faced with limited job opportunities, I picked up a camera and started documenting life on the island.

Despite gaining recognition, our military journey led us away from Oahu. Returning to Oklahoma, I shifted gears, becoming a licensed therapist for five fulfilling years. However, life had another turn, nudging me back towards my true passion. In 2023, circumstances pushed me to embrace photography full-time. Armed with a low-end camera, I navigated wedding seasons and the transition into motherhood.

My background in mental health remains a vital aspect of my photography, allowing me to connect with clients on a deeper level. Witnessing couples evolve into families is a joy beyond words. This year brought both challenges and poignant moments as some clients-turned-friends faced heartbreaking losses. Through it all, photography for me is more than a profession; it’s a soulful connection to the stories and lives I’m privileged to capture.
